Terms of Use — free evaluation API
1. Scope
These Terms of Use govern the use of the free evaluation API operated at try.quicoptapi.pgi.fz-juelich.de ("the Service") by Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH · Project Quicopt ("we"). They do not apply to the mere visiting of the website quicopt.com.
The Service is directed at companies, research institutions and developers acting in the course of their professional activity, not at consumers.
By using the Service you accept these Terms of Use in the version current at the time of use.
2. The Service
The Service allows optimization models to be submitted and solved free of charge, for the purpose of evaluating our optimization methods. It is an experimental evaluation and research service.
We provide it without any availability, functionality or result guarantees and without a service level. We may change, restrict or discontinue the Service at any time, in whole or in part, and without notice.
3. Access and API keys
The first call without a key automatically mints an API key. Keys are personal to the caller and may not be passed on to third parties or offered to third parties as a service.
We may restrict or block access if the Service is used abusively, if its operation or the operation of the underlying infrastructure is impaired, or if these Terms of Use are breached.
4. Permitted use
You may use the Service to evaluate our optimization methods and for your own research and development. You may not:
- submit content that is unlawful or infringes third-party rights;
- deliberately impair the availability of the Service, for example by load or penetration tests without prior agreement;
- circumvent technical protection or limitation mechanisms;
- resell the Service or offer it to third parties as your own service.
5. Submitted models and results
Your rights remain yours. You retain all rights in the models and data you submit. We do not claim ownership of them.
What you allow us to do. You grant us the non-exclusive, non-transferable right to store the submitted models, results and solver logs for the retention period stated in the privacy policy and to use them to analyse, test and improve our optimization methods and services.
Confidentiality. We do not pass submitted content on to third parties and do not publish it. Where we report on the use of the Service — for example on problem sizes or model classes — we do so in aggregated form that does not allow conclusions to be drawn about individual users.
What you must not submit. The Service is not designed for personal, particularly sensitive or security-relevant data. Please do not submit such data as part of a model. You are responsible for ensuring that you are entitled to submit the content you send.
6. Data protection
Details of the processing of personal data in connection with the Service are set out in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.
7. Liability
Results delivered by the Service are provided without warranty. They may be inaccurate, suboptimal or unusable; check them before relying on them for decisions.
Liability for indirect damages, consequential damages or lost profits is excluded. Otherwise, liability is limited, to the extent permitted by law, to intent and gross negligence. Liability for injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act remains unaffected.
8. Changes to these Terms of Use
We may amend these Terms of Use where this is necessary due to the further development of the Service or changed legal requirements. The version current at the time of use applies.
9. Applicable law
German law applies. Where a place of jurisdiction can be agreed, it is the registered seat of Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH.
10. Currency
These Terms of Use are currently valid (as of July 2026).
